Meet Barry, our Newest CORE Volunteer!

Meet Barry, the newest CORE Volunteer. Barry joined Clay County Habitat for Humanity in November 2023 and has already devoted over 100 hours of his time. After retiring, Barry moved to Clay County from Michigan and sought a meaningful way to spend his time. He found his calling in volunteering, and he enjoys spending his time on the construction site with the team.

Growing up, Barry learned how to fix things with his dad, and he cherishes the opportunity to work with his hands. He appreciates the sense of camaraderie that comes with being part of the team, and he takes pride in the work they do to build homes for those in need.

When Barry is not on the construction site, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 46 years, his two children, and three grandchildren. He is a true family man at heart. Barry is also an avid Detroit Lions fan and a Michigan Wolverine, and even though his favorite teams are not local favorites, we still love him and are grateful for all the work he does on-site.

If, like Barry, you find yourself retired with some extra time and would like to learn new skills, give back to your community, and improve your overall health and well-being, please contact Our Clay Habitat family of CORE volunteers always looks for new members willing to dedicate their time, talents, and hearts to building up the community, bringing hope, and creating homes.
