Clay County Habitat for Humanity joined forces with SHIP and St. Johns Housing Partnership to provide adequate housing for a local Vietnam Veteran, Mr. Joe Gainers. Mr. Gainers is a 68 year old combat disabled Vietnam Veteran who received 3 purple hearts during his three year tour with the National Guard Airborne Unit. Mr. Gainers lives on Miller Street in Orange Park, FL in the home which he was raised in. The home, which was built in 1949, was in deplorable condition. Thanks to SHIP, St. Johns Housing Partnership, Clay County Habitat for Humanity and the countless other volunteers and community supporters, Mr. Gainers now has a safe and decent home once again. We were pleased to be a part of this wonderful celebration at the unveiling and dedication of this home that took place on Friday, April 17, 2015.
