It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Wayne Scott, who was affectionately known as Mr. Scotty.
Mr. Scotty played an integral role in the organization for over three decades. Of the 185 Clay County Habitat for Humanity homes, he was involved in the construction of more than 175 homes.
When he wasn’t at a construction site, he could be found with the Orange Park United Methodist James Boys creating wheelchair ramps. He introduced the James Boys to CCHH and they quickly became the Core Volunteers. He had a wealth of knowledge and experience about construction, the community, and life which he shared with everyone.
Every Christmas season, Mr. Scotty would dress up as Santa Claus for CCHH and Orange Park community events. He joyously shared his faith with all.
Mr. Scotty’s life was one of service above himself from serving in the United States Marine Corps to Clay County Habitat for Humanity to his church. He will be known for his generosity and compassion for others along with his signature style of ruler suspenders.
We will greatly miss our friend.
